Seeking Sister Wife is a reality show that premieres on TLC on Sunday at 9 pm ET/PT. The show features families living a polygamist lifestyle.
Although the network has aired several other reality series about plural families including Sister Wives and My Five Wives, Seeking Sister Wife is a little different from those other shows, in that it follows three families the Snowdens, the Brineys, and the Alldredges, instead of just one, giving viewers a glimpse into the lives of all three.
The show features families that are actively looking for a new wife or have recently added a new wife. It follows the ups and downs behind the process of finding potential new wives, “dating” as a family, and the challenges of adjusting as a new wife in an established family.
Moreover, viewers might expect to see three Caucasian Fundamentalist Mormon families on the show, as with previous shows, but Seeking Sister Wife mixes it up by including an African American family, the Snowdens, who are not Mormon.
The two Mormon fundamentalist families on the show, the Brineys, and the Alldredge’s have known each other for many years, according to the official Briney family Facebook page. On their Facebook page, they Briney’s talk about how much they love the Alldredge family! Both the families used to live in Utah about 15 minutes away from each other and would see each other regularly.
According to the Briney family blog, the connection between the two families goes even deeper. When they lived closer to each other, the Brineys and Alldredge’s used to have family get-togethers and their favorite activity was watching UFC fights.
Briney’s first met Angela, their third wife, at the Alldredge house. With the community of non-FLDS polygamists in Utah being relatively small, it’s no surprise these two families have a connection and knew each other before being on the show.
During the first episode of the show, fans were surprised by the age difference between Jeff Alldredge and his wives. Jeff states in the first episode that he had always wanted to live this lifestyle, a case that leaves fans with a question of why he took so long to do so.
